BRASIL MARU was selected Japan Ship of the Year for 2007

 

 

 

Japan Ship of the Year is sponsored by The Japan Society of Naval Architects and Ocean Engineers and takes place annually. The prize goes to ships made in Japan which are screened for technicality, artistry and social relevance. This year is the 18th that this competition has run and 10 ships have been entered from 6 categories.

 

The announcement ceremony and selection committee for Japan Ship of the Year 2007 was held in “WellCity” Nagasaki in Nagasaki on 30th May. BRASIL MARU was awarded the best large tanker & cargo vessel, while SHIGE MARU was awarded the best small tanker & cargo vessel. Dr KAIYO won the award for best special vessel and BRASIL MARU was also chosen as Japan Ship of the Year 2007.

The award ceremony was held together with The Marine Engineering of the year Commendation Ceremony at Japan Shipping Club on 7th July.
