February 2010 - Newly Approved Orders for Ship Construction in Japan as approved by the Japanese Government*

February 2010 (FY 2009)
 
Newly approved orders totaled 1,124,250GT (28 vessels) in February 2010.
February’s figures in GT were 305,495GT less (no more/less vessel) than last month’s figures.
February’s figures in GT were 343,520GT less (11 vessels less) than achieved in the same month in 2009(FY2008).

A total of 6 pure export ships were ordered. 
( Cyprus x 1, Greece x 2, Denmark x 1, Korea x 1, Hong Kong x 1 )

2. Method of Payment

A total of 4 vessels were paid for in US-Dollar cash payments, 23 vessels were paid for in Japanese-Yen cash payments, and 1 vessels were paid for in Japanese-Yen and US-Dollar cash payments

 *These figures had previously been referred to as "Japanese Government Statistics for New Orders in Ship Construction". The above statistics represent the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) approval for ship construction. This approval may be issued at any point in time following completion of a contract. MLIT figures record both domestic and export ships of 2,500 GT or 90m in length and over.
