New Orders for Ship Construction in Japan as approved by the Japanese Government*



January 2005 (FY 2004)

New orders totalled 378,049 GT (10 vessels) in January 2005.

January's figures in GT were 88.3% lower (2,848,196 GT less) than last month's figures.

January's figures in GT were 64.8% lower than achieved in the same month in 2004.

A total of 0 pure export ships were ordered.


2. Method of Payment

A total of 1 vessels were paid for in US-Dollar cash payments, 9 vessels were paid for in Japanese-Yen cash payments.

The above statistics represent the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MLIT - formerly known as MOT) approval for ship construction. This approval may be issued at any point in time following completion of a contract.
MLIT figures record both domestic and export ships of 2,500 GT or 90m in length and over.
