New Orders for Ship Construction in Japan as approved by the Japanese Government*



May 2006 (FY 2006)

New orders totalled 1,601,485GT (38 vessels) in May 2006.

May's figures in GT were 11.6% higher (166,466GT more) than last month's figures.

May's figures in GT were 1.4% lower (22,425 less) than achieved in the same month in 2005(FY2005).

A total of 8 pure export ships were ordered.
( Greece x 5, Taiwan x 1, Malaysia x 1, U.S.A. x 1 )


2. Method of Payment
A total of 11 vessels were paid for in US-Dollar cash payments, and 27 vessels were paid for in Japanese-Yen cash payments.

FY 2009 - 1

The above statistics represent the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MLIT - formerly known as MOT) approval for ship construction. This approval may be issued at any point in time following completion of a contract.
MLIT figures record both domestic and export ships of 2,500 GT or 90m in length and over.
