New Orders for Ship Construction in Japan as approved by the Japanese Government*



June 2006 (FY 2006)

New orders totalled 1,539,049GT (37 vessels) in June 2006.

June's figures in GT were 3.9% lower (62,436GT less) than last month's figures.

June's figures in GT were 17.2% lower (320,811GT less) than achieved in the same month in 2005(FY2005).

A total of 9 pure export ships were ordered.
( Greece x 2, Singapore x 2, Liberia x 2, Cyprus x 1, Malaysia x 1, U.K. x 1 )


2. Method of Payment
A total of 10 vessels were paid for in US-Dollar cash payments, and 27 vessels were paid for in Japanese-Yen cash payments.

FY 2009 - 3

*These figures had previously been referred to as "Japanese Government Statistics for New Orders in Ship Construction".
The above statistics represent the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MLIT - formerly known as MOT) approval for ship construction. This approval may be issued at any point in time following completion of a contract.
MLIT figures record both domestic and export ships of 2,500 GT or 90m in length and over.
